Door handle THPG Lignostone®

The THPG door handles essentially consist of two parts: a solid steel frame with a nickel-plated brass crank and a replaceable handle sleeve, which is fixed to the sleeve carrier by means of a stainless steel flat-head sleeve nut (M8 15/20). Only a 5 mm Allen key is required for mounting and dismounting the handle sleeve.

In this case, the handle sleeve is made of resin-bonded pressed wood, more precisely, of red beech veneers bonded together with thermosetting resins (a type of thermoset) under high pressure and temperature. This material (now sold under the brand name Lignostone®) has been used for over 100 years as a high-performance insulating material in oil-filled power transformers and possesses corresponding properties: high electrical insulation capacity and high mechanical strength, resistance to weak acids and alkalis. It is corrosion-resistant and non-magnetic.
