Door handle THPG Bakelite

The THPG door handles essentially consist of two parts: a solid steel frame with a nickel-plated brass crank and a replaceable handle sleeve, which is fixed to the sleeve carrier by means of a stainless steel flat-head sleeve nut (M8 15/20). Only a 5 mm Allen key is required for mounting and dismounting the handle sleeve.

In this case, the handle sleeve is made of Bakelite. It was therefore manufactured from that "earth-heavy" plastic of the early 20th century, which, once molded, cannot be altered but only destroyed, and—contrary to common usage—does not refer to a type of plastic but to a brand of Bakelite GmbH in Iserlohn. It is thus a genuine piece of industrial history that you hold in your hands every time you use the door handle.
